Buses, Malta (Republic Of)
Being an Island, getting to Malta by bus is obviously not an option. However, it is quite possible once you get to Malta to rely on the bus system for getting from one place to another. Generally speaking, most routes will end around 8pm in the evening. However, busses from Valletta to Paceville (the major nightclub center) run until 3am on Fridays, Saturdays, and during the summer. Busses to and from Paceville run through Sliema, where most budget accomadation can be found. During the week it is possible to find a bus on the Valletta - St Julians route until around 11pm.
Normal bus fare is .47 eurocents, but night busses and longer journeys can cost up to 1.16 euros.
All busses run out of Valletta with the exception of several three-digit routes coming out of the University/Mater Dei Hospital.
Route 8 runs from Valletta to the airport and Route 350 will take you to a stop across the street from the airport (2 min walk) from the University/Mater Dei in Msida.
Busses on Gozo are considerably less reliable than those on Malta and many routes are only available during the summer. Check with someone before waiting during the off season!
Passes and student discounts are not available.
