Travel Guide, Karlsruhe

Karlsruhe is located in the South of Gemany in Baden Würtemberg, very close to the German/French border and the beautiful black forest.

Karlsruhe claims to be one of the sunniest places in Germany and indeed life in the summer is mostly spent outside. Almost all of the restaurants have large outdoor seating areas and there are several swimming lakes in the area where you can cool off.

The public transport system is excellent and enables you to easily make day trips from Karlsruhe using the tram or train. Examples are Heidelberg, Ettlingen, Baden Baden and Strasbourg in France.

The Karlsruhe palace, which contains a museum, is certainly worth a visit (climb the tower for an excellent view) and the zoo is a fun place for children.

The old town of Durlach is very cute with some nice restaurants. You can take a funicular railway up to the Turmberg tower. There is a very nice restaurant at the top and if you climb the tower you will be rewarded with a great view of Karlsruhe.
