Language(s) of Europe
There are 6 main linguistic groups in Europe:
1. Roman languages
The countries France, Spain, Portugal, French speaking Belgium, French and Italian speaking Switzerland, Italy, Romania and Moldova speak these languages. All Roman languages are coming from the old Latin language.
2. Germanic languages
The countries Norway, Sweden, Germany, UK, The Netherlands, Dutch speaking Belgium, Austria, German speaking Switzerland, Iceland, Luxembourg and Finland are speaking these languages.
3. Slavic languages
The countries Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Macedonia, Montenegro, Poland, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Ukraine are speaking these languages.
4. Uralic languages
The countries Finland, Estonia, parts of Sweden, Norway, Latvia and European Russia, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, Serbia, Ukraine and Siberian Russia are speaking these languages.
5. Turkic languages
The countries Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and parts of Cyprus, Romania, Greece, Macedonia, Moldova, Russia, Ukraine and Turkish communities in The Netherlands, Germany, France and Belgium are speaking these languages.
6. Baltic languages
The countries Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia are speaking these languages.
