Graffiti
Most people associate “graffiti“ with spray-painted pictures on the exterior of buildings. But graffiti also exists on the Internet. This graffiti appears not as pictures but as comments posted on the website that violate certain guidelines. Graffiti can be a offensive message including “You are stupid,” or an overly commercial or otherwise not relevant message.
If you come across such graffiti while exploring Earth.org, please use the contact us or by marking the effected article with an “Alarm.” To set an “Alarm” you must click “Edit,” “History,” and then choose “Browse versions.” Beneath the article itself you will find the possibility to activate an “Alarm.” Please write a short explanation of the problem and why you feel it deserves removal. We need your help to secure the quality of the Earth.org travel guide.
Vandalism
Some people just cannot help damaging - or even worse destroying - the property of others in real as well as virtual life. As with graffiti the same principals apply to vandalism: We depend on your help! If you discover that someone has vandalized certain pages in the travel guide please let us know as mentioned above to give us the chance to fix it and take appropriate action against the vandal.
Spam
It may happen that people try to push the ranking of their own website by placing loads of links on Earth.org or integrate commercials in their articles that should not be there. If you notice such occurrences please inform us about it by using our contact us
Mistakes
Every single person makes mistakes in life, and this is no different on Earth.org - be it a misspelling, a missing comma, or transposed digits. On occasion there may be mistakes regarding the content. If you come across such mistakes please correct them. If you have the opinion that the responsible author has made a mistake, or if you cannot make the change yourself, let us know
Copyright Neglect
The Internet is an extensive source of great texts and beautiful pictures, which can be quickly and easily downloaded. Before you integrate text or pictures in your Earth.org articles, despite your best intentions, please think of the following: Is the text or picture copyrighted? If yes, has the owner of the copyright given his approval for using the picture?
If you do not have permission to reproduce this content you are committing a crime. Copyright infringement is illegal and violation of these laws by copy-pasting material without the consent of the owner and violates Earth.org guidelines as well.
We are an honest and open travel project that respects other human beings and cultures. From our users we expect the same. Nevertheless if you happen to find an article on Earth.org that violates copyright, please send us an email or mark the article with an alarm. Thank you!
Freedom of Opinion
Every person is different and has personal ideals. It is not our goal to influence thoughts, opinions, ideas and beliefs. Earth.org is open for everyone. But we do expect our users to respect our philosophy and values as well. If you think a certain article should thus be corrected, feel free to do it yourself or let us know here.
