Contribute, change or delete content

In General

Is your favourite restaurant missing on Earth.org? A great museum in your town is nowhere to be seen? Change it! To write an article you do not need to be a registered user. We welcome anyone who wants to share knowledge. Click on “I want to add a new location” and you can begin writing immediately. To make Earth.org even more colourful you may add pictures to your article. Pictures will be inserted in your text at the spot where you position your cursor.

Change Content

To change an existing article or add additional information simply click on “Edit”. The editor opens the current article version and awaits your change. When you are finished and satisfied with your work, please press “Save” to make sure your input does not get lost.

Delete Content

We like life on Earth.org to be multifaceted. Therefore, you may change or add information to an article, but never delete it completely. Only the Earth.org team itself may delete articles. We will only do this when a contribution is of very poor quality, misleading or is just wrong.

So, before you save a new article, please go over it once again to make sure wording and spelling are correct. Imagine reading the article as if you have never heard about the topic before. Is the article still clear or does it need adjustments or more explanation? Please write your article from a neutral point of view. Try to avoid using the “I” to make it easier for other users to add information to yours.

Article History

Are you curious about the original text of a certain article? If you click on “History” while in the editor mode, you can actually see its past in different ways:

  • Browse versions: Shows all the older versions of the article. Just click on the version of interest in the drop down menu and have a look
  • Compare two versions: allows you to compare two different versions of an article with each other. The content appearing green has been added in the newer version; everything red has been deleted from the article
  • All changes: Using this option you may see an overview of all the changes that have been made so far to this article
